Closing the gap between intention and experience

We started Move the Many because we kept seeing the same problem, over and over, across our working lives — good intentions, but poor delivery.

The questions people were left with

Why are we doing this?
What does this mean for me?
What do I do differently now?

Organisations would pour enormous energy into change, capability and culture. They’d engage consultants, build training, launch communication campaigns, tick every box along the way. And still, the people at the centre of it all were left asking the same sorts of questions.

That gap, between what organisations intended and what their people actually experienced, felt massive. And avoidable.

Because meaningful change doesn’t happen when information is cascaded down. It happens when people understand it, see themselves in it, and have the confidence to act. That’s why we created Move the Many.

We bring together communication and learning, because in our experience, they’re two sides of the same coin. Great communication creates understanding. Great learning builds confidence. Together, they help people move.

Everything we do starts with the same two questions: What are you trying to achieve? What’s getting in the way? Once you understand that, the right solution usually becomes much clearer.

How we work

We don’t start with solutions. We start with curiosity.

Every organisation is different, and so is every challenge, which is why we spend less time talking about our process, and more time understanding yours.

We want to know how work really happens. Where people get stuck. What’s already working. What people say when leaders and managers aren’t in the room. Because that’s where the useful insights usually are.

Only then do we start defining and designing. Sometimes the answer is a communication campaign. Sometimes it’s a learning program. Sometimes it’s both. Occasionally, it’s neither — and if we think there’s a simpler way to solve the problem, we’ll tell you.

The pathway

Understand

We listen before we recommend. Through conversations, workshops, research and, at times, observation, we build a clear picture of what’s really happening in your organisation.

Define

Once we understand the challenge, we define the experience around the people who’ll use it. That might mean communication, learning, or a combination of both. Every recommendation has a reason behind it.

Design

We don’t hand ideas off to someone else to build. We write the words, design the visuals and movement, create the learning, develop the resources, and bring it all together as one connected experience.

Embed

Launching something isn’t the finish line. We help your people build the support, confidence and opportunities they need to put new ideas into practice — because if it doesn’t change what happens on Monday morning, it hasn’t really worked.

Strengthen

Everything we create belongs to you. We document it, hand it over properly, and make sure your team has what they need to keep it going. Our aim is to leave you stronger than when we arrived.

Different backgrounds. One shared philosophy.

Move the Many is a sibling partnership, built on a simple idea: organisations shouldn’t have to choose between strategic thinking and practical delivery.

Between us, we cover the whole journey — from understanding the problem through to designing, writing and building the solution. That means the thinking doesn’t get lost in the handover, and you don’t end up with a beautifully written strategy that never quite translates into everyday work.

Importantly, we’ve both worked in complex, multi-stakeholder organisations, so we know what it takes to get projects up and running, and to ensure they’re delivered with respect and integrity.

Jess Daly

Strategy & Communication

Jess has spent almost 25 years helping organisations communicate through complexity. From award-winning journalism to senior executive leadership across health, government and professional services.

Along the way, she’s learned that the hardest part of change is rarely deciding what to do. It’s helping people understand why it matters.

Jess is known for asking the questions no one else thinks to ask, making sense of complexity, and finding the story that helps people connect with an idea.

Josh Daly

Learning & Creative Design

Josh designs learning experiences that people actually want to engage with.

With a background in psychology, instructional design and visual communication, he combines learning science with creativity to turn complex information into experiences that are practical, memorable, and genuinely useful.

One of the programs he developed for non-professional coaches at the AFL even made primetime news on Channel 7 in Melbourne — which says a lot about the sorts of engaging learning he can create.

Josh is just as interested in what happens after the training as what happens during it — because real learning shows up in people’s work, not in a completion report.

We’re a small team by design. That means you work directly with us, start to finish. Most engagements run from a few weeks to a few months, depending on scope. When projects call for additional expertise, we bring in a trusted network of specialists we’ve worked with for years, people who share our standards and care just as much about getting the right outcome. No layers of account management. No disappearing after the discovery workshop. Just experienced people doing the work.

We don’t have a long list of values on the wall.

But there are a few things you’ll notice if you work with us.

People before process.

We design around real people, not ideal scenarios.

Honest conversations.

We’ll tell you what we think, even if it’s not what you expected to hear.

Practical over perfect.

We’d rather build something people will actually use than something that looks impressive and does nothing useful.

Thoughtful by design.

Every recommendation has a purpose. Every decision is made with your people in mind.

Let’s talk.

If any of this sounds like the gap you’re trying to close, we’d like to hear about it. Let’s have a conversation about what you’re trying to achieve, and what’s getting in the way.
